We all read our horoscopes at least once in our lives. Whether if we believe it or not, it’s a matter of perspective – and openness to the unknown. It’s obvious humans have always been drawn to the future, predictions have a magnetic popularity and the Horoscope is the most popular of these types of divination.

Below, there are some pointers on how to spot a genuine (read professionally made) horoscope. Please mind that I do not advocate the truth of the Zodiac, nor I deny its value.

Avoid:
-always-positive horoscopes: People want to hear good things. horoscope (and all future readers for that matter) creators can use this to take advantage of your expectations. Not everything that is painted with flowers and butterflies is authentic.
-generalization: Stuff like “Tomorrow it’s going to rain” or “You will wake up in the morning” are just empty words to fill a joke of a horoscope (every magazine needs to have a horoscope – professional or not!)
-always-negative horoscopes: Same as the first point (Life’s not all peachy, but it’s not all rotten peaches either…)

Read
-professionally-made horoscopes: Texts written by (known) professional astrologers with charts and extra information
-horoscope how-to’s: In order to understand the mechanics of Astrology, you may as well try to understand at least the basics of this ’science’ -> maybe you can get to make your own horoscope!

Treat accordingly:
-Horrorscopes: They’re funny, some of the info might be true, but don’t take it to seriously. If such a horrorscope tells you you’d sell your mother for a new mobile phone, that does not mean you would actually do that. Don’t you go sell your mother just because the horoscope told you to!!!
-magazine/newspaper horoscopes: some of them are pure fiction – see the Avoid section of this article – and are just made to fill a page with trivial, useless text
