When you go to the doctor, you will usually be tested for your blood pressure. High blood pressure is known as hypertension, and low blood pressure is known as hypotension. If your blood pressure is high and you have hypertension, you may need to counteract that high blood pressure by exercising and taking pills that will counteract this high blood pressure. If your doctor tells you that you have hypotension, or low blood pressure, there really is no reason to worry unless your blood pressure is dangerously low. You may, however, want to consider using a blood pressure machine to regularly monitor your readings.

Unlike high blood pressure, which means you have to take pills to bring your blood pressure down, you do not have to take pills to bring your blood pressure up when you have low blood pressure. A medium to low blood pressure is a sign of health and should not be taken as an unhealthy risk factor.

The only reason you should worry when you have low blood pressure is if, at times, you start feeling dizzy or passing out. Feeling dizzy or passing out is a sign that your blood pressure has reached a dangerously low level, and that is when blood pressure may be considered a bad thing. There are many different reasons why blood pressure can reach a dangerously low level. If you are suffering from dehydration, your blood pressure may drop to a very low level, causing you to feel faint. Certain diseases and illnesses can cause one to have low blood pressure that would become problematic.

If you have continuously low blood pressure at routine doctor’s visits, your blood pressure is normal for your body and it is not anything to really worry about. However, if you are visiting your doctor and your blood pressure is abnormally low, that is when you would need to find out what the reason for the sudden drop would be, and a doctor would work with you to find the reason.
